ipodtouch/can't get my itunes play list

I have a new iPod touch 6, with the latest software(ISO 9.0.2) I was able to get my music from iTunes, but it will not copy my play list's from iTunes. How can I get them to move over?

iPod touch, iOS 9.0.2, new ipodtouch

I have found that if you start a play list on the iPod touch then sync to iTunes, you can then change the play list on your PC and re-sync the changes to the iPod touch.
