I'm having trouble installing El Capitan. I've downloaded it but when I go to install it says, " OS X could not be installed on your computer. File system verify or repair failed."

Restart from a Mac OS X install DVD or the recovery partition and use the Disk Utility to repair the internal drive.

I am having a similar problem. When I try to update my Early 2008 Mac Pro which is currently running OS 10.10.5 my system hangs during reboot with both Apple displays showing a white screen forever. I have run disk utility on the SSD which I am using as a boot drive and confirmed that the volume has no problems. I am concerned that there is an incompatibility with this computer which has not been identified by Apple. I am hoping for the release of an updated Mac Pro by Apple soon.
