iPhone won't sync with iTunes

I had my iPod synced with my iTunes, but I just got a new iPhone 5c. iTunes only recognizes the iPod when I plug it in. In my account settings on iTunes, it shows my iPhone, though. My problem is, I want to un-sync my iPod and sync my iPhone. It won't let me do it. I'm pretty sure I have the latest version of iTunes and I'm running Windows 10. Can anyone help? Thanks
