Q: Notes won't stop loading (wheel spinning) after upgrading

It seems that after I clicked upgrade notes on my Macbook Pro's Notes app, the little spinning circle came up next to where it says "iCloud" and it will not go away. I had no problem upgrading the notes on iOS 9. But now on El Capitan the notes app just won't stop loading for some reason. Anyone know how to fix this annoying problem?

I'm using a 2015 13" Macbook Pro with Retina Display

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11)

I too have this problem. Not only does it stop spinning, it also won't sync any changes to notes/new notes with my devices.

I tried turning off iCloud completely (which resulted in all of my notes disappearing from my MacBook, but they are still on my devices as expected), then installing El Capitan again, then turning on iCloud again. When I did this, all iCloud services work as normal, except for Notes. Now, no notes are appearing in the app at all, despite waiting for it to sync from iCloud.

    This worked for me:

    1.  On your iOS devices, open Notes app.

    2.  On the Folders page, ICLOUD line, tap Upgrade.

I have this same problem on my iMac.  All my iOS devices are using upgraded Notes.

My MacBook pro is syncing notes just fine.

Could this be an issue with older (Mid 2010) computers?

I was going crazy trying to stop the spinning.

Out of the blue I decided to try the following:

    1. Start notes on my MacBook Pro 15"

    2. Click on File

    3. Select New Folder

    4. Give the folder a name: I used Temporary

    5. Click on All iCloud

    6. NOTICE, the spinning stops! Also note, each time I enter Notes, the spinner starts and stops. I assume it is updating.

    Sequence that worked for me.

    Good luck.

I'm so sorry to hear that won't work for me didn't work for you. I just checked it again. The spinning has stopped on my notes. And I've created new notes on my iPhone and created a new note on my MacBook Pro. I would be as miffed as you. But the solution seem to work for me.

Not sure if you are all still struggling with this, but I was having this problem after buying a new Macbook and upgrading to El Capitan.  First my notes weren't syncing at all.  So I toggled off iCloud for notes only, then turned it back on and it fixed the syncing issue.  But then, the spinning wheel wouldn't stop, so I did the toggle/untoggle thing again and when it finished loading, the spinning stopped and syncing was working.  Hope it helps you.

I have the same issue.  Plus on my iPhone (with 30GB+ free space)  and iPad (with 2GB+ free space), I get an error that storage is full, the iOS devices slow down and become unresponsive.  My iCloud has 18GB+ free space.

    What's going on Apple??
