how much storage space does el capitan take?

I installed el capitan o my MBA 60GB. Had been running Mavericks. It added 20+GB to the MBA and puts it close to full. There are 2 photo libraries; one for iPhoto and one for photo. Both 4 GB in size. Why both? Since upgrading I can't use this forum on the MBA. It won't accept my questions.

Any thoughts?

iPhoto has been deprecated with El Capitan. If it hasn't already, you may want to

import the iTunes library into Photos.

How much free space did you have before installing El Capitan? Must not have been

very much.

I had about 20GB free before El Capitan. The photo libraries were each 4.5 GB, perhaps duplicates?

I assume iTunes = iPhoto in this discussion?

I have my desk top left to update to El Capitan so probably both are still in use. I am on a satellite service and thus have a data cap so have to plan my downloading. I did the MBA when at my daughters. Will do the iMac when I'm still up at midnight. (no cap midnight to 0500)
