Split view Keynote & Safari surely compatible?

It is working for me, when I first open Safari in Split View and then select a Keynote 6.5.3 window for the second part.

It appears that Spilt View is limited by the minimum width of an application's window when in standard view.

If two app takes up more than the full width of the your display when you resize each application window to their minimum width, then they will not be able to be shared in Split View.

I can get the two apps in Split View on my 15" rMBP internal display, but it also may be limited by the size of the slides in your keynote presentation or if your display is only the 13" model.

You could change the display resolution to "more space" you may be able to get them sharing Split View.

It is very limited what can be done in Split View anyway. In most apps I cannot get the sidebar to show permanently or to show at all, which makes it tedious to work in this mode.

In Photos the sidebar will be disabled, in Preview it will only slide out when activated and occlude the text I'm trying to view. This is even worse than working in full screen mode with a single app.

You are right that in Preview if you initiate the split view the sidebar disappears; and if yoy activate it again it will *at first* occlude the text; but you can resolve that by simply adjusting the vertical bar separating the two applications. Not pretty, but a decent workaround if you are going to work on it for a while after that.

In Photos, though, I found no way to reactivate the sidebar.

I think that there are occasions where this split view thing can be useful, but as it stands it is just too new, and not even Apple applications all work perfectly with it. I expect there will be improvements over time.

Indeed, with "More Space" I can even display the sidebar in Split mode for most apps, but the fonts are then very tiny and hard to read on the MBR. I'll try it on my iMac with the larger screen. There it may be useful.

I'm looking forward to the evolution of the feature and hopefully it will get better over time and future releases of OS X.

It's definitely a big screen feature and works very well on my external 24" display. I don't want to change the resolution of my 15" internal display just to use it, although the 15" display works for most of the uses I have found so far. If I was only using a 13" display or smaller, I probably wouldn't want to use it anyway.

Apple are trying to move everyone away from sidebars, many of their Apps don't use them by default anymore and in OS X 10.11 when in full screen and split view, the sidebars are hidden, giving the user the full screen for the page content. Is good for the page content, more difficult if the user is needing to navigate around the app on a regular basis. If that's a good thing, we'll see.

I've set Safari to never use fonts smaller than 14pt, but even this setting is ignored in Split Mode.
