Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you are trying to have other devices connect to the Mac to share the internet. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.
OS X El Capitan: Share your Internet connection
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth: Potential sources of wireless interference - Apple Support
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Have a good one -
Nov 20, 2015 1:14 AM in response to Terri Hillby batza,★HelpfulSame here.
After installing el capitan to my 5 year old mac book pro (credits for giving back to me some of my lost speed) internet sharing from ethernet to wifi doesn't work. I have tried everything I found in the internet about the issue but nothing seems to help. I see the network I try to connect i.e. my iphone but it cannot connect.

Nov 20, 2015 1:19 AM in response to batzaby Terri Hill,Thanks Batza. I got on to Apple Support and as of today its still not fixed since early October. The issue has gone to the Engineers then silence.
They did send me an airport express as its definetly a problem with El Capitan. I therefore have slower wifi for now and no fix in sight. I have spent hours on my phone, used up my data downloading and reinstalling all sorts of stuff, been without computer for days on end and still nothing.
I am telling anyone who will listen to stay away from El Capitan.
