Please send me the links to the latest versions of whatever is new, I am not technical but want to get the most of my old PC. I have already run the software update programme, nothing new came up.
Frustrated when I cannot do whatever is easily and normally done on Window computers, especially during internet browsing. Thanks

Open the App Store and download El Capitan (10.11).
I have updated the software, but I wasn't able to navigate to my old photos library, it kept saying that it is temporarily unavailable. I opened a new empty library. Have I lost all my 35,000 picture?
Open the new Photos app.
Of cause I tried to open, I see my newly created album with the newly added pictures but I cannot see old pictures.
Quit Photos. Reopen it holding down the option/alt and command keys.
Thanks Eric, it asked to repair the library and it brought to bring some pictures into the new library, but half of the pictures are still missing. Thanks
You are welcome. See if you can update iPhoto.
Can't Update iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store
