If you have any suggestions that you think might enhance the Apple Watch you can send Apple your feedback here

Oct 5, 2015 8:17 AM in response to Winston Churchillby hollie_1426,Thanks! I will do that. There doesn't seem to be much out there for wheelchair users, many of us want to stay fit too! It would really be great if something can be designed in conjunction with Apple Watch to help people in the same situation.
Thanks again!

Oct 5, 2015 8:26 AM in response to hollie_1426by Winston Churchill,There are quite a few full ability activities that are missing at this stage too, so I'd imagine things are only at an early age still, however it seems only reasonable that a basic wheelchair activity should be in there too, do you have connections with any groups that might be able to put a bit more pressure on Apple than an individual can.

You may wish to monitor the development of Freewheel, a Bluetooth-based fitness tracker for wheelchair users.
The developers mention using it in conjunction with the heart rate monitoring capabilities of smart watches.

Oct 5, 2015 12:31 PM in response to Winston Churchillby hollie_1426,I am a member of the United Spinal Association and am headed to a leadership meeting in 2 weeks. I can bring it up there to see if it is something they would be interested in helping me pursue. Thanks for the idea!

Apr 12, 2016 6:38 PM in response to hollie_1426by acorn3025,I've had some success tracking wheelchair fitness with MyFitnessPal on my iPhone and Apple Watch. MFP tracks calories consumed when you scan the barcode on any food and enter the number of servings eaten. Then I added an excercise to 'my excercises' on MFP which I named 'Manual wheelchair' and gave it my best estimate for how many calories I burn in ten minutes of motion at a standard pace. [I based my calorie estimates on calories burned stats from this article: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/10/111028115352.htm ] Then I created another excercise and called it 'Wheelchair: Hard-wheeling" with an increased calorie count for times when I really push myself hard to spike my calorie burn.
It is not exact but it's the best answer I've found so far.
On the Apple Watch I also use the stop watch feature to gauge how long I've been trying to push.
Please share your answers or advice.
Thanks.
