Recommended Power Bank output for iPhones

Hi,

Many companies are selling power banks with power outputs between 2-3A. But iPhone chargers are rated at 5V/1A.

Is it safe to buy power banks with more than recommended output currents because they are marketing them as fast chargers? If you give more current, obviously the battery's gonna charge quickly but will it be safe for the iPhone?

Thanks,

Kamal

The phone will not charge faster with higher input current, because the phone limits the current coming in. However, for an iPhone 6 or later it will charge slightly faster if the USB source can supply 1.5 amps or more. Older phones will not use more than 1 amp, regardless of what is available from the adapter or power bank.
