bluetooth keyboard crashed after iMac goes to sleep

Hi, I have an iMac later 2012 and have just updated to El Capitan.

After the iMac goes to sleep, the keyboard is useless, showing random characters. I have tried on/off and only a full shut down and reboot will bring it back to life, until it next sleeps when the issue returns.

I hear random beeps too, like you're pressing keys at the wrong time or something?!!?

I can't see any similar issues at present on here, anyone know if this is a known issue with this update? It only happened after the software update.

This is a rather unhelpful 'me too' on a late 2013 iMac and bluetooth keyboard, and also only after the El Capitan upgrade. I have had a google and as far as I can see the only way to evade the issue is to "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display os off" in System Preferences, which I am now about to try.

Yea I suppose. I half expected Google and here to be awash with people with the same issue, but sadly not.

I was unable to connect to my wireless keyboard after I downloaded the latest update. It turned out to be weak batteries. It's working fine now. My only problem is that I can not perform any of the new features (with the exception of Photos).
