I am using an old MacBook. It works perfectly so I do not want to upgrade my laptop. However, I am unable to upgrage my OS past 10.6.8. I need newer OS for the new itunes. When I try to upgrade to the next in the line (Mountain Lion) I am told that my computer does not support this upgrade. Any way around this?
11.4 is the newest iTunes you are going to get on Snow Leopard (unless Apple changes its mine, but my crystal ball is in the shop for repairs).
There is a chance you can upgrade to Lion, but I do not know if that version includes the iTunes that you need.
