imovie and el capitan

I hope someone can help...

I installed El Capitan

imovie continually crashed

Following advice :-( I deleted imovie by dragging app to trash

In 'app store purchases' I only have the option to update rather than (re)install

But it wont update (spins and spins)

What must I do?
