Q: best format for external USB drive to share over wifi with windows 10
Hello ,
I have a 4 terabyte external USB drive attached via USB cable to my Mac Pro desktop running El Capitan.
I want to make the USB drive accessible by every other computer in my house which consist of an iPad , a Dell desktop PC running windows 10 and a Sony Viao Laptop running windows 10 , and maybe even my iPhone .... Basically want this USB drive to be able to be read and written to by all my devices . Sorta like a shared family drive ... Oh and having my Samsung smart TV be able to stream videos off it would be a bonus.
The drive is currently formatted exFat ..... So my questions are , what format is best for what I am trying to do? Can I do what I want and what are the best ways to achieve this? Do i need to share my drive or the files in the drive etc. I plan on having the USB drive connected to my Mac Pro at all times because It is the most powerful computer I have .
Thanks for anyone who assist me .
