How do I make an alias for a Numbers worksheet?

Late 2013 iMac, OS X El Capitan, Numbers 3.5.3

I have created a monthly budget for several years by duplicating my last budget, then creating an alias which I use to launch it the following month. Of course, I change the name of the budget from Sept 2015 to Oct 2015 and ensure the alias is so named. After upgrading to El Capitan, and while I can create a new budget worksheet, I can not create the alias.

Hi B. James Lees

How are you trying to make your alias? Both of these still work for me.

Thanks for your quick reply. Neither of your solutions seem to work. When I load a spreadsheet in Numbers, and open the File drop down, I get this:

User uploaded file

For years there used to be a Make Alius selection, but since I downloaded the new Mac OS X, it is no longer there.

On a different but similar subject, the same thing happens when I try to make an alius of a Pages document - no Make Alius selection showing under the File dropdown.
