Each time I try to open Safari, I receive a message from this site, purporting to be Apple and claiming that there is a "**** virus" on my computer that is accessing photos and etc. I have run Bitdefender and Disk Cleaner and rebooted several times, but it won't go away. I've never encountered anything like it. I'm now downloading El Capitan in the hope that the new OS will deal with it. Has anyone had a similar experience, and a solution?

Search these forums, hundreds have had similar messages. Force quit Safari then press and hold the shift key when starting up Safari again.
