Q: Blocking messages from a particular contact

Hi, I have Apple Watch running OS 2.0.

I need to block a contact sending text messages to me.

I have blocked them on my phone (for both calls and messages) and I no longer receive Messages on my iPhone, iPads or Mac from them. That all works fine.

However, I still receive messages from them on my Apple watch.

I have blocked them via the Apple Watch app. Watch >> My Watch>> Friends >> Blocked>> and added the contact there.

But I still get texts from them.

Help.

    Hi Andrew - try this:

On your iPhone, in the Apple Watch app:

    - Go to: My Watch > Reset > tap on Reset Sync Data.

    - Nothing will seem to happen, but the process will run in the background / invisibly to the user, so allow a minute or so.

It may then also help to restart both your iPhone and your watch. Turn both devices off first, then restart your iPhone before restarting your watch:

    - To turn your watch off: press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; drag it to turn off.

    - To turn it back on: press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

Hi, thanks, I have done this. I guess I will never know whether it works. Either it has or the person contacting me has got the message! LOL.

    One point:

My Watch > Reset > tap on Reset Sync Data.

    Should be

My Watch > GENERAL > Reset > tap on Reset Sync Data.

Hi Jonathan, actually, it hasn't worked. I got several messages from the 'problem'  source yesterday afternoon.

    Hi Andrew

Check that you have added all of their contact details to your block list (including their email address and phone number).

On your iPhone, you can add someone to your blocked list from the Phone, FaceTime, Contacts, or Messages apps:

    • Tap the Info icon next to the contact or phone number that you want to block. If you're in Messages, open the conversation and tap Details, then tap the Info icon.
    • Scroll to the bottom of the Info screen and tap Block this Caller.
    • Tap on Block Contact.

I get added to group conversations that i need to block every few days. Rebooting my iPhone and my Apple Watch is not a solution. This is an example of ill conceived or poorly executed data syncing. It's one of those things that should just work, but doesn't.
