What are the requirements to serve El Capitan updates?

I know OS X Server 5 is now OS independent, but do I need to upgrade the server to El Capitan as well to serve 10.11 updates? We are currently running OS X 10.10.x with Server 4 and I don't know if I need to upgrade both or just Server.

I see nothing in the documentation about this specifically.

Mac mini, OS X Server, Server app 3.2.1

If you just want to use the server.app 5.0, you don't have to upgrade to El Capitan!

The Server5 works on 10.10.x and 10.11.x!

If you use SoftwareUpdate Server, I think you must upgrade to host 10.11 updates.

I prefer to use the caching service. For this is no need to upgrade the server to host 10.11.x-updates in your local-net!

Greetings,

Peter
