Q: FaceTime crashes after el Capitan upgrade.

FaceTime worked fine in Yosemite but crashes after el Capitan upgrade.

The call (sending or receiving) says connecting and then crashes.  I have captured the details of the crash reporter.

I wish I'd seen this thread earlier.  Installed El Capitan yesterday.  All went well except for having to recreate my iCloud mail account to get that to work, then tried FaceTime. Bang! Now it quits upon video call acceptance from either direction.  Mine is also a mid 2007 iMac 24In.  I may try going back to Yosemite until the next EC upgrade.

Same problem on my iMac 2007 21", but not on my Mac Book Air Medio 2012.
I sincerely hope that Apple listens to all of us!

So again...Apple please help us out of this miserie.

Even with the first update OS X10.11.1 the problem still persists

Is there really no way to contact somebody at Apple to tell them about our problem?

    An e-mail address perhaps?

After upgrade to OSX 10.11.1 I hadn't tested - but feared the worst.

My understanding is that crash details are auto sent to Apple. I assume that they assess priority by the number of occurrences - which are clearly not many, and refer to the oldest iMacs listed as compatible for Yosemite and El Capitan.

You can visit an Apple store and ask the question. Online you can contact by phone after listing the problem - a charge is made for this I think about $30!

I am disappointed that no 'experts' on here who have looked at these threads and with crash reports listed have come up with any suggestions as to where the problem lies. My guess is the graphics card.

I contacted Apple support, and during 2 days they made me do a lot of things. Clean install, delete the HD, back up from Time Machine, reinstall OS W 10.11.

Nothing helped. They told me that I had to wait the first update. But clearly it didn't help.

I doubt it is the graphic card, because a I now many people who have also iMacs Mid 2007 and they do not have that problem!

Is there  anybody out there who has the e-mail address of the CEO of Apple?

Maybe an e-mail to the big boss could help

Thank you for that report and all the trouble you have been through. At least it has helped the rest of us not to waste time doing all the standard 'fault recovery' procedures that are suggested when they can't identify the actual problem.

I don't know if this is still current ******* but if you are willing I suggest you reference the several websites on here and macrumors.com and the fact that crashes have been automatically reported and by users testing the public betas OSX 10.11.1.

Let me know if you want any other information.

Since i life in Belgium and I am Dutch speaking, my English is not to such a standard of understanding everything you write.

What do you mean by... but if you are willing I suggest you reference the several websites on here and macrumors.com and the fact that crashes have been automatically reported and by users testing the public betas OSX 10.11.1.

I already mentioned that problem to a leading magazine in the Netherlands - iCreate - and they told me that if Apple support couldn't help, they couldn't either.

Sorry to confuse - just suggesting that any further contact with Apple should include mention of the number of complaints on Apple support sites (although they don't read them we are told)

That's the problem! We don't know how many crash reports were sent to Apple.

As I wrote earlier, we should have an official emailadress at Apple were we can tell about our problem.

And yes, maybe we should wait for the second update?

Adding to the weight of the evidence, my 24" iMac (mid 2007) crashes on connect to Facetime with 10.11.1. However, my mid-2012 MBP works fine (w/10.11). I've sent reports to Apple and will continue to do so from time to time. Looks like it will be at least 10.11.2 to resolve this issue. Thanks for all these reports as it saves me from possibly going through the support recommended machine gyrations to try to fix this. To ensure that I didn't have some hardware failure, I also booted from an external drive with a Carbon Copy Cloner version of Mavericks and the iMac connected perfectly on Facetime. If I didn't have the second machine available, I'd back up to Yosemite (or even Mavericks) on the iMac to at least temporarily resolve this.

Sadly, I have a 24" iMac from 2007 and having the same problem. I was hoping there would be an answer by now.
