Failure to install El Capitan from 10.6.8 Stuck on reboot "aura" screen?

I am actually submitting this for a friend... When he tries to install from Snow leopard 10.6.8, it gets stuck on "aura" screen when its trying to reboot and will not do anything else.

I had him send me screen shots and his Macbook Pro meets all the requirements but just wont complete the process...

its a 2010 macbook pro with 4gb or ram and enough disc space

Any suggestions?
