I was using the bathroom and playing Clash of Clans on my iPhone 4s, and then the phone slipped out of my hand. I took off the cases and placed the phone on my dresser from 5:47 pm to 9:52 pm. Nearly 4 hours. Then I plugged it and it got really hot.

It might have had a chance of surviving, had you:

• Powered it off right away
• Not plugged it in

Now, it is very unlikely to function completely again. As these are technical support forums, we cannot advise you what to say to your mother.

Accidents happen.

The case should have protected the phone from the fall though.

I made the assumption, based on his post, that the phone fell in... thus he'd be dealing with water damage.

Since the OP didn't say, I assumed it just fell on the floor.

Water damage is no bueno.

When your Mom gets home tell her how relieved you are to see her. When the earthquake hit you thought you'd never see her alive again. Fortunately the only damage the house sustained was your phone and you're trying to see if it's salvagable.

Or you can tell her the truth that you dropped it. Accidents happen.
