Do I need to keep my migrated iPhoto Library?

I am cleaning up my MBP and delved into the mystery folder named Pictures. I noticed that my iPhoto Library has been migrated with the update to Photos and has not been opened for several months. At a whopping 126 GB of space I am wondering if I need to hold onto it. Photos is working well but I am not certain. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Mac Book Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

You probably don’t, but the media files are hardlinked, so deleting it won’t free up nearly as much disk space as it appears it will. Put a copy of both libraries on an external drive.
