I have just setup a card to use on my Apple Watch. The process went smoothly, and I the app told me that my card was "activating" an I would receive a notification when I could use the card with Apple Pay. That was about 8 hours ago and the app still tells me that the card is activating. Is this normal? How long should I expect to wait?

It can take up to 24 hours for activation. Your bank should send you an email verification that the card has been accepted for use with Apple Pay.
IIt's now over 30 hours and still "activating" . At what point should I be concerned?

Contact your bank and ask them to look into the matter.
I actually called my bank to get my card verfied, they told me it was done but its still asking for verification in Wallet/apple pay, and on my Apple watch an hour later
IN the end, after 45 minutes with AppleCare, I had to unpaired my phone and re- pair it. Worked like dream.
