My iPad mini has stopped accepting the lightning cable so I can't recharge. Any ideas what I can do?

For several months I have had to jiggle the cable in the port to get the green charging light. Now it has ceased to connect so the battery charge is critically low. Is there any hope of repairing the port? The iPad itself is good as ever ... when I can get it charged.

Hi! Have you tried using a different cable?

If so, try resetting your phone. This won't delete your data stored on this device.

  • Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
  • Press and hold on the Home button
  • Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.

Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

If these steps don't work, contact Apple and ask for help.

Thanks for the suggestions, DC. However, I have already tried a new cable and regularly do the reboot to clear the working memory. Neither action has had any effect on the charging port. The problem seems to be inside the iPad; I fear it needs surgery and my enquiries with my Apple supplier weren't promising. They offered to try a repair ~ with no guarantees ~ and admitted the cost would be the same as buying a replacement. I'm very attached to my mini and hoped someone in the community has had a similar issue that has been solved.
