LaCie harddrive no longer recognised

It has been working every day until today. I tried to plug it into the macs at my university and it didnt find it and then I tried to plug it back into my personal mac and it didnt find it either. I'm not sure whats going on but it has my university work on it and I really need a solution quickly.
