My boys would love to watch movies on their ipad mini using a usb stick. Is there anything that is compatible with an ipad mini. All I can find is the Apple Composite AV cable that isn't compatible

not since pin30 pre lighting connector has both composite and component been an option
ios tv out which it used was replaced by airplay mirror which mirrored the screen
but the resolution of ios divices is much much higher then what composite support
so it would not work
even if they made a lightning version of the cable
but rest assured I have the cable and iphone4 and ipad2 which works with it but next to no apps support
the old tv out feature any more not even apples build in ones
I'm after an Apple Composite AV Cable, is there one that is compatible with an iphone 5 or ipad mini?
