Even when you use touch you still need a passcode when you first
Switch on iPhone / iPad each day
If you have forgot passcode or not set one up .
You will have to restore on your PC running the latest itunes .

Oct 6, 2015 7:13 AM in response to PrimPearby Michael Black,You had to have created a passcode in order to have even set up the Touch ID recognition as it is a requirement to even enable Touch ID - Use Touch ID on iPhone and iPad - Apple Support
The passcode is necessary as a backup in the event the fingerprint reader fails, and is required for first access every time you reset or turn off/on the device.
If you cannot remember that original passcode, then you will have to restore the device in iTunes to reset the passcode.
