Movie will not import in order

I have a MacBook Pro, 15" early 2011 that I have upgraded to El Capitan. I also have upgraded the ram memory to 8 gb.

I have been trying to create a movie from photos and videos that I have taken but have been unable to do so.

1. I could not import from Photo into Movie

2. I exported from Photo and created a desktop folder and from there I was able to import into Movie

3. When trying to import into Movie in a particular order, the newest import was always placed before the earlier import.

4. When trying to move a photo from its current location within the project to a new location, the software would not allow the move.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
