I installed the inateck PCI express card to get USB 3 into my mid-2010 Mac Pro. That seemed to go smoothly. But when I went to boot up, the power came up for about 5 seconds, then the computer turned itself off.
I removed the new card, but got the same result after.
Does anyone know what might be going on? Did I fry the motherboard by using my bare hands to install the card maybe?

Does the manufacturer say it should work with a Mac with your OSX version?
Unless a defective card It should damage the mac.

Thanks for your reply! I'm on 10.10.x (the last version of Yosemite which I can't bring up now)
I checked with the manufacturer of the card and found that it is incompatible with Yosemite.
Could trying to install it have fried the computer?
I tried rebooting in safe mode. No result. It still turned itself off after a few seconds. So none of the other options will work.
Kind of out of options...
Remove all peripherals not needed for booting including PCle cards except graphics card as well as all USB devices.
Try booting again.
Can boot fro install DVD?
Already tried that. No peripherals and no cards attached. I also cleaned out the interior of all dust, FWIW.
Not sure if I have the install DVDs from 5 years ago anymore. But since the computer doesn't stay on long enough to even eject the DVD player, how would I do that?
Could you have damaged anything during the install of the card?
Open the side cover and turn it one. Are any light li on the logic board or by the memory sticks?
There's a red light that comes on around the memory sticks and no other lights that I can see.
Try reseating the RAM
Did that. Got the red light around the RAM, the graphics card started spinning, then in a few seconds it all shut down again.
I am now wondering if I damaged something on the board at the top PCI slot where I mounted the USB hub.
