Safari 'unauthorized' access attempts

Odd situation, not sure what to make of it. I just recently acquired a macbook. Installed Forticlient to access our corporate VPN. No problem there, One of the apps' features is web page filtering, which was automatically enabled when I loaded it. It had been running for two or three days when I went in to turn it off and found about a thousand attempts to access a site that I knew nothing about and definitely appeared to be malicious. The access attempts happened at night, when the machine was in the office with no one there.

It came loaded with Yosemite and appeared to be a clean install, but now I am wondering if I should wipe it and start over. Thought I would see if there was any reports out there of anything similar..

Any input appreciated.

Thanks

WJ
