I have an early 2015 Macbook Pro that I recently upgraded to El Capitan. It wakes from sleep fine when it has been closed for a short amount of time, but if it is in sleep, say overnight, when it wakes, the keyboard and mouse are unresponsive. This leads me to having to restart my computer daily now. Does anyone know any fixes for this? Thank you.

I have the exact problem as "Weirdbeardmt". Seriously how could Apple miss this.
Do you use VMWare Fusion?
I do actually. Do you think this bug might be related to that?
Other stuff I've suggested points to it. The test is to shut down all your VMs (possibly kill Fusion altogether) before you let the machine sleep for a while. See if it persists. That's what I'm trying at present.. so far it seems to comply.
Allegedly, VMWare are aware of the error. It *may* only affect Fusion 7 - most 8.0.1 users seem to say it's OK - and / or upgrading to 8.0.1 resolves it. But that means $$$.
Apparently VMWare are working on a patch for Fusion 7.
But, I've seen other people report the same problem who are not Fusion users, so currently I'm not taking it as *the* problem.
I've got the same problem with my ibook pro and I'm not using VMWare Fusion.
I shut VMWare last night and shut the lid... opened the lid this morning and it all fired up normally - no freezing. Anecdotal evidence that in my case at least it may be related to VMware.
No VMware products on my machine. 😟
My MacBook Pro (Late 2008) is also experiencing the same issues. When it goes into the first state of sleep it is able to wake up, but when it goes into the second state or hibernation it does not wake up. I am forced to hold the power button to force it to shutdown. The laptop still is generating heat and I notice the usually pulsating led on the front just stays solid. It is very discouraging to experience and it did not occur until I installed El Capitan. Last year for Yosemite my airport card went out.
My 2014 Macbook Pro recently developed this issue immediately after I upgraded to El Capitan. I do run VMWare Fusion Professional 7.0.1
I will try shutting down VMWare completely to see if the problem resolves.
I suspect the recent 10.11.1 update fixed the issue. I dont seem to have this issue any more. Will monitor. I do have VM Ware Fusion 7 and woke from sleep and worked normal.
I have 10.11.1 and that's when the problem started for me.
I have had this issue as well since El Cap beta, same thing happens on PR of 10.11.1
SMC resets and NVRAM(PRAM) resets do not solve the problem. I am not running any VM setups.
Running Late 2012 MBP Retina. Have exactly the same issue. Even after upgrading to 10.11.1 it still freezes after long sleep. I am using VMWare Fusion 7.
