Iphone 6 after upgrade sending texts instead of iMessage.

After upgrading to version 9 on my iphone 6 and applying the new patch that was suppose to help with iMessages being sent as texts; my phone is still not functioning properly. iMessages are still sent as texts off and on. Starting to get a little unnerving. At times when it does work it doesn't say delivered.
