How to Restore from Back Up Files

I went from Windows 7 to Windows 10 via Beta Testing. Yesterday I decided to go back to Windows 7 (HP laptop pressing F11 to get back to factory settings) prior to doing so the computer asked if I wanted to back up any files. I made the choice to back up my ipod and itunes files. Once I was back on Windows 7 I was able to get the Ipod/Itunes files to my desktop via the Recovery Manager. However, I now can't seem to get these files back into itunes. I re-downloaded itunes and just tried dragging the files and nothing happened. My Ipod was NOT plugged in at at the time, is that the problem? Can someone direct me as to how to get these files back into itunes and my ipod so that i don't lose any music files?
