I lost all of my mail when backing up my phone
I was updating my phone, backing it up and lost all of my mail. How can I recover lost mail?

It is not in my gmail account, and I cannot find it in iCloud
You added your GMail account to your phone and it's not showing your mail at all? I'm not following you. You're mail account isn't updating or what is exactly going on?
I have always used gmail in my mail account on my phone. All of my e-mails have gone missing.
