Q: imessage not working reliably after ios 9.0.2 update.

After the iOS 9.0.2 update, I am not reliably receiving or sending text messages.  This occurs on group and single person text messages.  It occurs with others that have iphones and other phones.  It seems to be worst on one group text which contains a mix of iphones and non-iphones.  Some messages that I send are not received.  Some messages that are sent to me are not received.

There are no blocks set for Messaging.  I have reset my network with the help of Apple's help line.  I have restarted my phone.  I have good WiFi and Cellular connections.  I am on AT&T's network.

The problem persists.

Any solutions?

Thanks.

Well, 171 people checked the box that they are having the same problem and I received 15 replies from people with the same problem and no fixes.

Yet Apple, as a company, is silent.

I just signed up for the apple beta program so I am using 9.1 Beta Version.  I just had this start happening to me too.  I will send an iMessage to another iphone user and it will be sent and they will receive it but only about 1 our of 10 or 15 will actually say delivered on my phone.  Then all of a sudden all the messages that don't say delivered will be sent again and the recipient will receive them again as a text message.  It happens whether I'm on ATT LTE or connected to wifi.

I am NOT a happy Apple user right now.  This needs to get fixed ASAP. I am telling everyone I know not to install the update. Come'on Apple. Get these things working before you shoot from the hip and release them please.  The exact same thing is happening with my phone after the update. I would guess only 5% of my iMessages are working now, regardless of the network I am on. I send an iMessage, it sends but doesn't say delivered. 10 minutes or so later, it decides to send as a text.

I'm having the same problem, except I've had the 9.0.2 update for over a week and mine just started this last night.  It acts as if it's sending under green (not blue).  I have a great wifi connection but no bars inside of the house, that's typical, but as it's trying to send under green it says message send failed.  I try to send again and same thing.  But then on the other end most of the time the person I texted responds so they apparently got it.  I'm not sure if I'm sending duplicates or not becuase it keeps saying error and then on occasion they do not get it at all.  I have ATT as well, I've done a network reset, I've restarted my phone, I've done numerous things and nothing seems to be working.  It works okay for about an hour and then the longer I talk to someone it starts acting weird again.  Totally annoying and frustrating!

I upgraded my iPhone 6s to iOS 9.0.2 as soon as it released and this issue started happening wherein I'm not receiving group messages until after one-two days! They would all come in bulk! And this is a mix of iphone and non-iphone users in the group text. I've also had two people ask me why I never responded to their message so it seems like I am also not getting single text messages/iMessages from time to time. This is really annoying. I called Apple and they couldn't help me out. They told me it must be an issue with my network (AT&T) but I doubt it. I've already played with my message settings, did a reboot, and the issue still persists. Apple, you better fix this issue...

I just got off of a chat with Apple and have an appointment for tomorrow. I also gave them this thread and was told it would be sent to engineering to try to figure out the problem. I will let you all know what I find out tomorrow afternoon.

It seems to be a software issue, hopefully they don't just give me replacement phone in hopes we will go away.

All accurate.  After update, rarely do any of my imessages go out as an imessage.  They go out as texts.

Have this exact problem. All messages look like they are going through as iMessage, and then they just suddenly change to texts after a few minutes. Even when i turn the "send as SMS message when imessage is not available" off, it sends, and then when i turn that setting back on, it sends the same message again. have tried logging in and out of apple id, turning off imessage then off again, and resetting network settings. Nothing works.

I just got off the phone with Apple Support and they are aware of the situation and are working on an update. I was told it was a 'glitch in the system' and they were made aware of it 'recently.' I passed along with thread's info to them as well a general description of the problem.

I am having the same issues with my imessage but only to one of my iphone contacts.  Ironically the one I use the most.  I have rebooted, switch iMessage on/off dozens of times and most everything everyone else has but still having problems.  Please get this fixed.  Very frustrating
