My Opinion (worth >2¢?)
The weak link in all security protocols is the HUMAN factor - that means YOU. If you are careful about where you visit on the web, what you ALLOW to be installed from sources of unknown trust-ability, and do not respond to anything in in any email that arrives unexpectedly from know or unknown folks - you are safe from malware and phishing attempts - which is what Rapport is supposed to "supplement" protection for. You also do not need anti-virus software in OS X either, as there are no known viruses "in the wild" affecting OS X.
Any 'security' software running is only good for slowing down your Mac.

I can confirm CCC's excellent analysis. I've been helping here since about 2000 and, once Rapport came out, we first started to see issues with it causing Safari grief, then later versions seems to slow the entire system, Removing it made computers run like Macs again.
Unlike the anti-virus people, Trusteer seems to be making legitimate efforts to make their product Mac-compatible but, as of now, it hasn't happened.
I won't get near that program with a ten [ hundred ] foot pole.
"You authorize personnel of IBM, as Your Sponsoring Enterprise's data processor, to use the Program remotely to collect any files or other information from your computer ... Some consider this a violation of security and privacy."

I got that quote from the page ChitlinsCC cites.

It sounds as if one should associate the name "Trusteer" not with the Three Musketeers but rather more like " Tru--Steer " - a male cow that has been 'de-balled' (?)

Advice based on the Power Macs from 2000 are not really valid with Intel Macs.
Apple just pulled some 3rd party apps from the app store because they had malware in them.
Absolute best way to protect your information - don't bank online - and GO PAPER.
In reality you spend more money upgrading electronic devices than you spend on stamps and envelops.
The bank wants to protect your records and their information.
The quote while while destabilizing to your peace of mind, may be standard verbiage to protect IBM's backside. It seems like the company develops a database based on what it finds in participating systems. See the full verbiage here:

There are some caveats about only taking data needed for protecting others from a attack. You'd need a lawyer to sort it out.

TRUSTEER software was developed in 2006 - and IBM now owns the software. You can see more information on it at the IBM site Listed below.
Don't really get the privacy complaint when you consider the amount of data being compiled by Apple/Google/credit cards/store cards/ of everything you purchase, watch and listen to on line.
