El Capitan won't Boot after installation

Worked with apple support (support case952757406 they suggested alt+cmd+r+p, then 2times tataa ) etc. etc., After nothing had helped they suggested to contact the next dealer.

The dealer is about 20 km's away, so I tried out all documented possibilities., nothing helped.

Then I took the Disk Utilities and after that loaded El Capitan direct from Apple store again. Then I restored the data from TimeMachine. All worked fine. But after restarting the machine El Capitan won't boot.

Back to Yosemite, then same procedure again, same results.

But, going back to Yosemite worked without problems at every time. So I'll use Yosemite till the end of time. And leave my macbook untouched.

Pity, a shame. It's like in old Windows times........

Hi .. :-)

I have been watching mail threads for the past couple of days after having 2 failed attempts to install El Capitan onto my 2011 Macbook Air. Had to revert to a back up of Yosetime due to the login hanging. Resulted in a great deal of lost time doing an OSX upgrade which Apple is supposedly thoroughly testing before a global release. Today I discovered my problem and on reattempting to upgrade to El Capitan it went ahead without a single problem.

Why?

mmmm ... maybe Apple should have warned users before clicking download about third party applications listed as approved on the App Store.

To those still struggling I have can recommend a safe approach which worked for me:

1. Back up your current system

2. Disable any applications such as CleanmyMac, Memory Clean or SMC fan control utilities linked to RAM and processor tasks.

3. Disable FileVault (I did not have it enabled but believe it is a good idea to switch off until the update has been completed)

4. Reboot your machine and commence an update to El Capitan

The update went without a hitch .. no hang ups at the reboot-login sequence after following the above steps.
