I am locked out of my phone

I was asked to reset my security code on Saturday on my cell. I entered my new code twice. Later, when trying to access my phone, it would not take my new security code or the previous. After sceveral attempts, the phone shut off and came back on with factory settings. I had to basically go through the entire install process like the phone was new. Was not able to set up my company email, but it accepted my Apple ID login info, though. I choice to use a thumb scan and enter a numeric code later. I tried to gain access to my phone (work cell) for the first time since Saurday and it asked for a numberic code (which I never provided) and is now locked and I can't open it.
