What version of HDCP will the new Apple TV have?

Now that there is no optical audio out from the new Apple TV. Both video and sound will go through HDMI only. In perfect condition older receivers that do not support HDCP 2.0 and above will not be able to decode 5.1 surround. There is no software update. The decode of HDCP 2.0 and above is hardware based. meaning we will have to buy a new receiver just to decode surround audio from the new Apple TV.

I have one of those adapters but the audio conversion seems spotty. Sometimes it's great sometimes it loses one audio channel or another. Not many adapter right now can decode HDCP 2.0 / 2.2 (assuming Apple is implementing that version). If this is a viable work around, I think the connection should be:

- Apple TV to HDMI adapter.

- Adapter's HDMI adapter to my TV HDMI

- Adapter's Optical Audio to my receiver.

The question is... will the adapter send the HDCP 2.0 video signal to my TV (not HDCP 2.0)?

Do you have a specific adapter in mind?
