I really like the ability to get my iphone text messages and Imessages on my Macbook . There is an annoying problem though. If I am only on my phone all day and I delete text messages, the next time I log onto the Mac the entire history is there. For privacy reasons I do not want this. I am not sure if this can be changed so I thought I would ask the community.

That's the way it has always worked for me.
If you have more than one person using the same computer, make sure that everyone is set up with their own user account. Then, enable fast user switching.
Every device sharing the messages via continuity will act like that. The messages, once passed off to each connected device, are independent on that device. In other words, only the receipt of new messages is synchronized between them. Deletions on one device do not sync to the others.
Deleted Messages on Iphone still show up on mac.
