trackpad not functioning properly

my trackpad suddenly became very strange, when i am doing handwriting using the trackpad, some parts seemed not responding such that my characters are split into 2 parts, but sometimes it kept jumping, moving around, clicking things while i am not touching it or my hands are not even close to it. what happened?
