iphone 6s forced calendar syncing, instead of wired itunes syncing

I had a iPhone 5 IOS 9.02, working with mac-book pro OS mavericks , all up to date, I would sync my contacts and calendar events via wired connectivity in iTunes 12.3..all up to date, worked fine, no issues, BUT, over the weekend I bought an iPhone 6s, and was not able to sync calendar events anymore with wired connectivity in iTunes, although I could still sync my contacts without an issue !!, I want to keep my calendar events and contacts between mp iPhone and mac-book pro.. Apple please remedy this, forcing people to use iCloud is simply not acceptable to me and I'm sure a lot of people who want to keep private their information..PLEASE FIX THIS, it has to be an IOS issue or maybe the iPhone 6s hardware !!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)
