iPhone 6 backup apps taking forever to download

i just recently got the iPhone 6s Plus and I backed up my old phone via cord to my computer and restored the backup on the new phone via cord. Why is it taking HOURS to redownload these apps? I have NEVER had this issue before any time I've done this!
