what happened to the beep when using siri? very dissapointing

Hi, Just got the latest iPhone 6s plus, all updated of course, and lo and behold when I press the Home button to initiate Siri, NO BEEP, instead I am squinting for that wavy line, that beep let me know when to start speaking to Siri, At least give us the option of turning that beep off, or on. I see no reason for turning that audio alert off, but I can think of a few good reasons why it should be reinstated, if something works well, why change it? Oh well, lets see what happens in the next update. Of course may I say, the iPhone 6s plus is beautiful and a joy to own. Thanks :-)
