Q: can i install office standard 2007 on this OS X iMac ?

MY EMPLOYER Gave me office standard 2007 and i need to use it, will it install on my OS X Yosemite 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, will it work????

he said it wouldn't but I'm asking.?

Not outside of Windows, CrossOver Mac, Wine, or similar software.

Office 2007 is for MS Windows PCs, therefore it will not work on your Mac in OS X. However if you install MS Windows on your iMac you could use it. Tell your employer that he really should have gotten Office for Mac 2011 or Office 365.

Personally I would ignore the Office 2007 you were given. It will be more problems then it is worth.

My suggestion would be to test LibreOffice and see if it fits your needs. It is free and a version is available for the Mac which is years newer Office 2007.
