I used backup to an external hard drive using USB cable, then I connected the hard drive to my airport extreme. I went into backup and changed disk destination. now its creating a new backup. why is not recognizing the original backup?
If you are using Time Machine.. it backs up differently on network drives.. (ie plugged into an Extreme).. cf local drives.. (ie plugged into your computer).
So the simple answer is you cannot do it.. you cannot move the USB around.. it must backup to the location it is plugged into .. and that location only.. unless you are happy to have two backups.
