downloaded el capitan, macbook froze and shut down

So I downloaded a software to the new update, el capitan. Once it finished, there was a screen to sign in with apple id and then it suddenly just froze and shut down on me. I tried everything (smc and pram). It won't boot or start. It's just completely shut and a blank screen.

Has anyone experienced this? Anyway to trouble shoot it?

I'm about to just throw in the towel and send my computer to the apple genius store as a last resort. However, I'm hopeful it wouldn't have to come to that.
