I continually get the message: Time Capsule failed to back up (or something like that). I figured it must be full, so I opened it, highlighted all my folders from 2012 and asked it to ZIP compress those files. For three days now the little pop-up window is telling me "Preparing to compress to "Archive.zip". When is it actually going to compress those files?

Maybe never.. this is not going to work or save any huge amount of space.
Copy the files to a USB drive or archive the whole TC disk .. then erase it and start over.
Both archive and erase functions are on the disk tab of the airport utility.
