My I pad wont respond, and wont show a display, I have tried rebooting with the home and power buttons have tried resetting and updating, nothing seems to work

If the screen will not "light up" how do you know that the battery is charged?
The IPad had 50-60% charge earlier while on the ipad, but a few minutes later, when I went to reopen the ipad, it never responded, but the screen had a faint blue light, not very noticeable in the light, but very noticeable in the dark.
my ipad wont respond, and the screen wont light up,and I have plenty of charge
