apple pay

Passport on iPhone 6s shows unverified debit/credit cards in Wallet (though they have all been activated at the banks)....and I get a completely different set of verifified/unverified cards showing up on apple watch and in the apple watch app of the iPhone. Why aren't they syncing?

I had the same problem so I called my bank and verified again, and when nothing changed on my watch I did a hard reset on my watch and my phone and it was fine. To do the hard reset on the watch press the digital crown and power button until the watch reboots, and on the phone the power button and the home button at the same time until that reboots.

That solved my problem. Hope it works for you.

Hi

Contact both your bank and Apple Support, so that they can each look into the issue of cards that are still showing as unverified despite having been activated:

Note that cards need to be added separately to each device. Adding cards to your iPhone does not automatically add them to your Apple Watch (they are not supposed to sync).

I apologise if my reply was confusing.

To clarify: your iPhone and Apple Watch are treated entirely independently for Apple Pay. Your post indicated that you perhaps expected otherwise ("why aren't they syncing?").

You can add cards to Apple Pay on your iPhone via Wallet on your iPhone.

You can add cards to Apple Pay on your watch via the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.

Adding cards to Apple Pay on one or the other device does not automatically add them to the other device.

Each separate combination of card + device is given a unique Device Account Number. This is why, for example, you can leave your iPhone at home and turned off, but still go somewhere else and pay using Apple Pay on your watch.

Jonathan,

THanks for the clarification, My biggest problem, tho, has to do with getting cards verified. As example, I phone a bank and get a card verified for Apple Pay. It then will show as verified on the phone, but not the watch.?.even using the Watch App. And the reverse is also true. I received one verification on my watch but it does not show verified on my phone. Surely getting two, separate, verifications on one card from one bank can't be required.

i'm obviously missing something here. I'm rather tech savvy but this really has me confused. I do understand these are two separate devices, but it seems the Watch App should be working with the Wallet App.

MAybe I have more reading to do here.

To reiterate: the devices are treated entirely separately (as each can be used independently to charge transactions to your card account).

Your bank decides whether or not verification is required. When it is required, the process relates to that specific instance of adding that card to that particular device.

Keep in mind that verification is not concerned with "verifying the card". Rather, it is concerned with verifying your identity. The process confirms that your request to add that card to that device did actually originate from you.
